The Hollister Downtown Association will present the 24th Annual Lights On Celebration Parade on Saturday, November 29, 2014, a wonderful family-friendly, community event that brings 8,000 to 10,000 people to downtown Hollister. This year's parade theme is "The Magic of Christmas" and will start at 5:30 pm.

Holiday Car Show

By popular demand, the Lights On Celebration will be featuring the Holiday Car Show.  Registration on the date of the event is allowed and the "entry fee" is a new unwrapped toy.  Cars must be parked by 9:30am.  The car show begins at 10:00am and goes through 2:30pm.  Trophies will be awarded in two categories: Best of Show and People's Choice.  Winners of the categories have the option of driving their car in the parade.

Holiday Boutique

We are seeking vendors for our Annual Lights On Celebration Holiday Boutique which will be held on Saturday, November 29th from 10:00 am to 8:30 pm in the Vet's Building in downtown Hollister. With more than 5000 visitors to the boutique last year, this event brought together a diverse market place of 56 vendors selling everything from soap to scarves, purses to perfume, jewelry to Christmas gifts for the entire family. This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce your business to enthusiastic shoppers and visitors. We would love to have you participate in our special Lights On Holiday Boutique.

Acts of Kindness Program

The story behind the mascot for the parade, Jaime the Elf, was written by local artist, Kathleen Sheridan in 1995. In the quest for her Elfhood, Jaime discovers that only in the light of love, peace and hope does the true spirit of the season shine. "Jaime the Elf" is a story about the true meaning of the holiday season, and encourages children to think about what acts of kindness they can do during the holiday season to help Jaime light up downtown Hollister.

The "Acts of Kindness" Program, sponsored by Pacific Scientific, was presented to the schools in San Benito County requesting students K-8 to submit their Acts of Kindness to help Jaime. There will be students representing each school on the PG&E Acts of Kindness Float in the parade.

Decorate A Tree

Thanks to the generosity of Bourdet's Christmas Trees and 27 local non profit groups, local families in need will have a happier holiday. The decorated trees will be displayed on the corner of Fourth and San Benito Streets during the Lights On Celebration. After the event, they will be donated to deserving families in our community. Entries are limited and are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Trees will be judged after 11:00 am and the winning tree sponsors will be announced during the parade.
